Marlin Model 60 SB born on date?

I'm trying to date a Marlin Model 60 SB with serial #MM088XX(K). After numerous Internet searches the best I was able to come up with is 2010 or newer. Any way to get it closer than that? Thanx.

You're asking the wrong people. You need to go over to the Marlin forum, they'll have the answers you want.
BTW, getting it to the year may be as good as you'll ever get. Serial numbers don't always follow calendar chronology.

There should be a two letter date code on the barrel close to the receiver.

As you said, getting it to the year may be as good as I'll ever get and that's what I would settle for. Right now I think I have it down to the decade. I was just hoping to pinpoint it a smidge closer.

I've heard of the Marlin forum, I just didn't want to go thru the time to join another one just for one question. You see, I don't even own the gun, just trying to help out a buddy. I posted the question here on this thread bcuz it was for long guns other than S&W.
