I live in Ca. And recently purchased an SD9VE online out of state. It is my first handgun. It says MA compliant. From what I've read the requirements are almost the same except the microstamping. If it doesnt have it am I S.O.L.?

A reputable dealer would not ship a gun to you that is illegal to own in your state. I believe one difference between CA & MA, is that MA requires a 10# trigger pull on any gun without a manual safety and CA does not have this requirement.
No manufacturer has implemented microstamping. CA allows the sale of guns that were approved before the microstamping law went into effect to remain for sale, but new models introduced to them for testing have to have it. The SD9VE was around long before microstamping was passed into law

California has a list. Find the list. If it's on the list, you're good to go. If not, you're SOL. Be sure to check correct model and revision numbers.
