I am having issues with my bolt carrier in my new m&p 15 sport. i don't believe it's going into battery fully or it's a light primer strike. when I pull the charging handle it is locked and I have to bump the stock on the ground to get it unstuck. I pulled a rock river bolt carrier and put it into the gun and it worked perfectly.

I also put the m&p into the rock river, it shot, but when I went the pull the charge handle it was stuck.

any ideas?

I assume you're talking about this happening with a cartridge chambered?
If that's what's happening, is the ammo factory made, or something that was home loaded?
You're describing exactly what happens when a cartridge isn't sized properly, or there is too much crimp on the bullet causing the case to be oversized at the mouth.
I recommend that you switch to a different ammo and let us know what's going on then.

I put some factory ammo in and racked the slide through about 20 rounds. the issue doesn't seem to be there so that may have been the issue. I let off a quarter turn on the crimp. hopefully that resolves the issue.

too bad the m&p 15 has such tight tolerances.

thanks for the help.
