Here's a 'pre-27' from circa 1954.
I felt guilty about my recent foray into 'Rugerworld', so I caught up with member dant at the Dalton show, then followed Drew's suggestion and came home with this gun and had Ramen noodles for lunch!
It'll be a real good shooter...appears unfired since it left Springfield, but decades of sloppy storage gave the right side a few freckles.
Thanks, Dan!

Very nice, Don!

Good thing Ramen noodles come in a few different flavors..
Different Flavors? Really? I thought they just had different wishful thinking in their packaging....

Sweet Pre-27.....

Like those alot....

Hmmmm,

Maybe it's time to start totally ingratiating myself to Dant...

Beautiful gun, they simply don't make a better .357 Magnum then the

Model of 1950 ~ Right, SaxonPig.....?

Great gun! I also have a ’54. Since this gun is not perfect you can get out there and use it as intended! I love shooting mine.

Uh Giz....

I think we all appreciate your enthusiasm and desire to remain engaged in the conversation, but I believe the Good Doctor was referring to the stocks on the revolver in the photo....

I've often felt myself that the 3 1/2" 27's with Target Stocks were a little ungainly....

Giz, you keep confusing me with someone who objects to the "pre-27" or "357 Model of 1950" designation. Neither bothers me in the least.

The only misused term that grinds on my psyche is "pencil barrel" and I don't even know why. I can't explain it but some reason I just cringe when I hear or read that.

SP and Drew,
Point well-taken on the 'ungainly'...
I might have Patrick Grashorn make a thick pair of stags for it, then add a high-polish Tylet T-grip.
I only find the 'ungainly' thing an issue on guns I don't use as shooters.
IMHO, the postwar magnas on a magnum handgun ( that you actually use) are like a screen door on a submarine.

hey guys, thanks for the kind words, I knew Don would like it when he actually "laid hands on and held it......" Just glad it got a GOOD home and was able to "pass it on..." I could not "pass" up on this gun, even though I got it with a fever of 104 degrees and pneumonia to boot, ended up in the hospital 45 minutes later...but I did it, though I did "forget" to get the 'other' gun, and boxed model 13....oh well, what can I say :?

Excellent! Those really are classic S&W's. Congrats on my favorite .357 Magnum.
