She is a pretty little thing...the quinze wood is really exceptional. At first I thought it was a Spalted birdseye... Excellent quality, I believe the blade is Aus8. Very well balanced.
The good news is that this Loveless design is being marketed by Beretta. They are licensed to make it and use the Loveless trademark. The better news is that I bought this NIB for about $160...here in Maine.
A true Loveless is a multi year wait and in the thousands of dollars. They are prized possessions and given his skill and artistry, worth every dollar. But you can have something very close and in a user knife...
Knowing what I do about Loveless knives, I believe that you got a real bargain!
Beautiful wood!...my grandmother made preserves and jelly from the big pear-looking fruit from her quince trees, and we would save the large prunings for barbeque firewood.
Not really. It is a great piece of leather and well fit to the knife, but is a friction fit. Also they embosed their own trident logo on it. I think a knife like this deserves better, and needs a better retention system then just a friction fit. I'm looking around at what is available for mine right now. I intend this to be a user knife and would be heartbroken if it came up missing from the sheath.
XTM & Giz, You could also get a Dozier in his River Hunter pattern, very close to the Loveless design. He no longer does a leather sheath, they come in kydex(YUK).
I have Bob Loveless's book on knifemaking. He devoted a chapter to his method of crafting a sheath. Lots of illustrations and pictures. Many folks do not realize that Bob made the sheaths for many of his knives. I think I'm going to have one made in Bob's pattern...
Nice knife Sir, the only Loveless I had was the City Knife folder with turquoise scales done by David Yellowhorse. I sold it on Ebay one year to help buy Christmas presents perkgfn
