Have found a pleasant & accurate enough 44 special load for a 3" 629. I've been using HP38, but it is a little too smokey & dirty for my taste. 858-900fps gives very nice results; the closer to 1000fps & above the harsher the 3" becomes.

Trail Boss is very soft recoil & pleasant shooting all day long. Tite Group has a sharper recoil & I smells funny. Unique is dirty; can't find Clays around here lately.

Got some favorites to share? Have 240 gr cast RN & SWC, ....

I have several. All of which are made with powders you've already rejected.

Give AA-7 a try, burns clean, low smoke. Should put you right where you want to be.

I'm using Lyman's 429244, cast 255 gr.G.C. bullet over 21 grains of H110 with a Fed 155 magnum primer.
also Sierra 240 gr JHC bullet over 23 gr of H110 with CCI 350 primer.
This is in the Sierra loading book, Edition V
These work well in both my .44's

As always, work up your loads
