I have a S & W Model 10-T, Serial # 9D092** that is in new condition. Can anyone fill me in with details on this revolver, like is it a quality model, date of manufacture, is it safe for + P, etc..?

Thanks

Are you sure it says "10-T" and not a number instead of T?

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Take another look at the Model #. I believe is is 10-1 or 10-7...more likely the latter. Also, could you post a picture of the butt serial number. Duh, I found the right table. 1981.

The Model 10 Military & Police revolver has been around with various improvements since 1899. It is S&W's all time best seller at around 7 million units. If you only have one revolver for the rest of your life, you can't go wrong with a Model 10. It was the standard issue police revolver for many LEOs for many years before semi-autos. You can shoot any pressure of commercial ammo in it without engineering issues...your hand is a different subject.;)

The 9D prefix began in 1981. You have either a 10-7 or a 10-8. If it is a heavy barrel it is the 10-8.

Here is my Model 10 collection. Like Wiregrassguy says you can't go wrong with any Model 10. I am still having a problem deciding which I like better.

Great collection! I see mine at the bottom. I carried a S & W .38 in 1963 while on the Chesterfield County, VA Police Department but have no idea which it was.

It may well have been that model; it is a Model 10 no dash, shipped 9/59.
