I just got my dad a model 14 no dash, 4 screw for Christmas and would like to date it if possible. Any other info you can provide on it is welcome also.
Serial # K3956**

it has 8 90 49 stamped into the yoke if that helps any. also has 8 90 49 R stamped on the frame under the grip panel

the grip panels look right for the revolver, but not sure if original or not. the right side panel has KT-357 and below that is 5949. The left panel... I can only see what looks to be 5950

I will try to get some pic later if needed. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thank you. Yes, it is a very nice revolver. It is one of those gifts that is tough to give because I like it so much. Dad will be thrilled for sure. I am going to look into getting an older S&W for myself, maybe a model 19, although I do like the modern 327 8 shot snub nose with scandium frame and titanium cylinder. It would be a fine carry gun, the old 19 would be a great range gun that is just fun to shoot. The 29 would be awesome, but feeding it would get pricey.
