I picked this up today, my wallet is 5 bills lighter. NY State Police marked. Smooth, wide trigger that the NY guns had. Real slick action. And the only handgun ammo that Wally World had was Winchester .357 Mag JHP's !!! Three boxes of fifty I picked up ! Think I did okay. Here's a couple of pics, thanks, Shoo

Nice find shoo. I have a model 27 with the smooth combat trigger, I really like that feature. :)

Shoo,

Looks correct, the smooth wide target trigger is a dead giveaway. Now all you need is a Excelsior Badge from the day to go with it. ;)

Re: Lookie what Shoo bought today, a NY State Police Wheel Gun !

That's a nice one Giz. Love that badge. Is the red ramp front sight correct for these, or was it personal preference ? Hey, guess what ? I stopped at WallyWorld and other than some smaller boxes of .22's, the ONLY handgun ammo they had was one box of 44 mags and three boxes of .357 Mag JHP's ! Now I even have ammo for the old girl. Would really like to find out the born on date for this Highway Patrolman, can anyone help ? Thanks, Shoo

So Shoo...... what's the serial number range? One of us can check the Bible to get you an approximate manufacture date...

Also, what's with the K-Frame Targets? Me thinks you need some Shooos..... :D

Dammit ! You know, I asked the dealer what's up with the grips, are they K-frames ??? And he said, " K-frame grips won't fit ", which I knew better. They aren't very good anyway, so you are right, I need new Shoos !!!
Anyway, thanks for the serial number help. It's in the N54717X area. Now I gotta go look for some nice N-Frame Targets.... Shoo

One of the first S&Ws I owned back in the mid 1970s was a Model 28 that had the smooth trigger. I never saw any NYSP markings on it but I guess it could have been one of those.

 Sorry bean357, I had to sell the sweet Hi-Power to have money for the Model 28. I wish I had more gun money to spend, but such is life. That snubby 34 .22lr with original "Kit Gun" box is calling me, gotta find some money somewhere......
Gunhacker, e-mail on the way, thanks Conrad. Did you get your new Shooboy 'Pro' Hammer yet ???
