I've been watching Longmire episodes today. The characters keep talking about guns being registered (or not). I thought that sounded bogus so I googled Wyoming gun laws. As I suspected there is no gun registry in Wyoming.
It really chaps my cheeks when writers either don't do their homework or put something bogus in the show to be politically correct. Why not just be correct?

I never did finish the series. I head that in the last season Longmire and his deputy (who have zero chemistry) become a couple. And I had no interest in that.

What do you expect from liberal writer's anyhow??? I never watched Longmire or The Walking Dead, but there seems to be some interest in them. I don't particularly like TV Drama. If I wanted to watch 'made up stuff'......I would watch the Adam Schiff 'Dog and Pony Show' on FOX. He doesn't want to name 'the Whistle Blower' because his name is Adam Schiff......who has 'First hand knowledge about everything!!!!!' nbhaoflgnngpligpohijganthepukeBob

I really liked the series but it was painfully obvious that he last episodes were really rushed and there was a lot that happened with no real explanation. Left the viewer to really stretch to fill in the blanks.

I like the Longmire books, I got some of the DVDs @ the library.... glad I didn't waste money buying them. Didn't watch most of the set... too stupid.

I liked it at first but the plots got too outrageous for even Television. Plus the never ending story arc went nowhere with no resolution in sight. Finally gave up on it. Too bad. The main character had the potential to make a really good series. I guess it suffered from formulaic writing. Ho Hum.

I liked the series. The wife and I watched it on Netflex last year. It was entertaining and the characters were interesting. But yes, the plots got to be a little far fetched but hey, it is much better than most TV series of late. I was really disappointed to find that there is no Absaroka county in Wyoming!:D
The cabin scenes looked very familiar and a little Google Earth searching found it sitting in the Valles Grande Caldera in northwestern New Mexico. I used to fish there during my 1 year stay in Albuquerque years back. Even though the cabin is located on a dirt road, the Google car goes right by it, giving you a nice 360 degree view of the area. https://www.google.com.br/maps/@35.8659966,-106.5166384,3a,75y,319.22h,90.24t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s--83J6ggigu5kHlK064-Kg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!5m1!1e4

The office scenes were filmed in Las Vegas NM.
I'm reading the books now and enjoying it even more.

They are not being "politically correct", they are thrashing a clear and present agenda. "Guns are bad" and "guns must be controlled by government" even in their fictional West.

The series ran for five years 2012 to 2017 but lives on forever in streaming.

I don't know how Longmire ended. My ending: he finally figures out the casino owner is not a bad guy and to stop the rich white guys who want to steel his land to build a competing casino and hotel not run by indians. he deeds the land to the tribe, on the condition they let him live in his cabin.

I don't know what it is but then I don't watch TV at all. I prefer real life drama's and I have plenty of those.

Firearms inaccuracies are like that, all over most TV series. I was watching Miami Vice, and in one show they kept going on about a NATO Browning being "fully automatic".

I have to believe they are spreading fear and misinformation, because. they. simply. can't. be. that. ignorant.

Regardless of media type, whether it be writers of a TV show, news media talking heads or whatever... When you the viewer is personally knowledgeable about a particular subject you quickly discover the BS. Remember that next time you're listening to media discussing/reporting on a subject you know little about. The same BS is there, you just don't know it.

Speaking of TV inaccuracies I've seen several episodes of Peter Gunn in which professional killers use revolvers, with silencers, and they are so quite nobody notices.
In one episode of the true crime drama sere Homicide Hunter: Joe Kenda he says he carried a stainless steel Kimber 1911. The actor playing him in the reenactments used such a gun at the police range in that episode but never again. Every other time they show his gun its black polymer. I actually exchanged messages with the actor on Facebook, he's a former sheriff's deputy which is why he got the job, he looks nothing like the photos of young Joe Kenda. He told me ihat in that scene he was using his own gun. So both the real Colorado Springs cop and the actor like stainless 1911s but the series producers too cheap to spring for one. He's going to be out of work because the series is ending in February.
