Wood is our primary heat source, so I split 6 cords to get us through the winter. We usually have a fire in the wood stove going from October through April, sometimes May. I have a 27 ton, gas engine wood splitter, no more splitting by hand for me.

When I heated with wood my splitter was a splitting maul. I loved that after cutting timber all day. On the bright side I didn't have to pay gym fees.

Main source of heat in our new 1700 sf ranch is wood. Love a wood fire. Picked up a 20 ton Timberwolf last year. Still got about 10 cord of tree length oak out there from clearing the lot. Gonna be a busy spring. Too old for the maul crap.
