Here is my only L frame. A ex Iowa State Patrol 686 no dash from about 1982. Came with the history of the trooper who carried it and a ISP shoulder patch. Note the factory combat grips. View attachment 469852
All the guns in this thread are cool as hell but .. having the State patrol stamp adds a little extra sauce for me!! Nice!!

I've got one that a lot of people would like to have. The knife is a fairly collectible item as well.

I wanted to add that before joining this forum, I didnt know what a 686 was, but found out pretty darn quick. The 4", no dash was the first S&W revolver I ever bought. It was the second S&W I owned, but the first was given to me. It was a 1955, pre model 10. now I have 3 or them and wouldnt mind a 4th

I have been on a quiet subdued look for a 586 but it would have to be prelock. Waiting for that special opportunity like the 28 I got hold of. I know its out there at a price that wont make my wife kill me in my sleep and the search is half the fun.
