I have inherited an old nickel finish .38 top break, hammerless 5-shot revolver the only markings other than barrel and grips(black) were butt and cylinder
# 2275xx just curious about the piece thanks

Barrel markings were Springfield mass and caliber

Yeah working off iPad, pc is ill, can't get a clear pic, and not sure how upload, with this, working on getting couple up

welcome01 to the forums from the Wiregrass! Go download the free Tapatalk 2 app from the Apple Store. That will go a long way to helping you read the forum and upload pictures. We will really need pictures to give you much more information.

Your .38 S&W Safety Hammerless 5th model was shipped around 1907-1910. The 5th model began in 1907 at SN 220,000 and they made 61,495 of them by 1940.
