Interesting, I have never seen one before. It is on the K frame? Great history on it as well, thanks for sharing. James

I've always wanted a shooter model 45, wouldn't have to be as nice as yours, congrats. I had no idea they made and shipped them as late as 1978?

I don't know what went the 1978 guns. I based 78 mfg date on SCS&W
but it states that they weren't model marked mine is, is yours?
I wish it was consecutive to yours I need to pay off the house. :D

I believe that Roy himself had the remaining K frame .22's assembled into the Model 45's in 1978. Their were 135 frames in inventory. These were all non-model marked guns. Your serial number range is in the same arena as some of mine. But, alas, no consecutives here either.

My boxes are marked Model 45, the guns aren't.
They didn't ship with manuals. I suspect that S&W wasn't about to have any printed up for the short run. They did have the standard paperwork of the day and the cleaning kit.

Now, I don't think you could bank on me coughing up the coins to pay off your house with a standard ol' Model 45... :) Now, if you find a Model 45-1 out there then we need to talk..
:D
