I picked up this surplus Kareen HP a few years ago. In a moment of weakness I decided I no longer needed it and sold it off. Other than a pretty stiff trigger pull it was a beauty, only missing the original black Kareen grips. If you own a Kareen feel free to post pics of yours.

I’ll dig mine out tomorrow and post some pics. Mines pretty damn ugly but it shoots good.
I never heard of the brand. Looks like a very good HP copy.

Here’s the Hi Powers I still own. Left 1961 Belgium, center my Kereen, and bottom 1992 MK3 Belgium.

The 1992 was made for the Israeli Massad Police Department. When I was attempting to research the marking on the pistol I came across a Facebook page of the police department women’s auxiliary selling these stocking caps. Literally cost me like $18 or $19 delivered to my house from Israel.

Finally the Kereen which apparently was assembled in Israel using primarily Hungarian parts and some Israeli parts. The bulldog muzzle cap is different from the Belgium pistols and shows the Hungarian roots.

I have a little collection of Israeli police and military pistols. From what I’ve been able to collect, the military & police in Israel used CZ70’s, CZ75’s, Belgium HP’s, and Jerichos. In order to satisfy the civilian needs and marksmanship programs they used CZ75 clones BUL’s, Tanfoglio’s, Jericho’s, and Desert Eagles.

The Kareen was an attempt to supply the civilian demand for HP’s and to build up domestic arms manufacturing.

Tolglass,

Nice HPs; it was my understanding as well that the major components of the Kareen were made in Hungary by FEG. Here's a pic of a Kareen that was worked over a bit. It was one of the early imports from Israel some years back. It was imported as pictured here other than the Browning grips.

Do you have any the Beretta 80 or 90 series that have come in from Israel?

Have an 82 supposedly was an Italian Navy issue but I have seen 82’s that were marked from Israel. Unfortunately I was unable to get the guy to sell me the Israeli 82. 82’s are the only Beretta’s that I have seen with Israeli stamps.

Atlantic Firearms has Israeli Police marked Beretta 84 pistols for sale in stock. Look pretty nice…

.380 😝. Have never dabbled in that caliber and would only buy these 84’s is they had a Star of David or some Hebrew writing on them. Here’s a picture of a CZ70 that I got from Israel. Police and Military guys carried these as back ups and this guy ( Alon Tzika ) had his name put on the side in Hebrew. If I could get an 84 like this I’d buy it in a hart beat.

I’m not sure if they are Israeli marked. I’ve seen 92s marked with police Star of David mem stamps, but not sure on the other Berettas.

Ironically, I exclusively collect Nazi police Walthers… :)

This is a MKI Israeli Kareen Hi Power, 1977. It's been completely refitted with BH Spring Solutions upgrades. Heirloom Turkish Walnut grips. Remarkably accurate.
