I have visited less due to the politics.
Made a few comments.
Been down this road before elsewhere.

Like a lot of things in life we all have an opinion.
I have no desire to change your mind set on anything.

You like the color red, I like blue.
Fine with me.

If I wanted to indulge I would listen to Rush Limbaugh.
Talk radio says it all.
Talk and more talk.

:)
BLUE? If you reload then you are one of those Dillon people!:D
Talk about "discussions" over Red, Blue or Green presses!! Worse than Politics!

That picture of Dave ain't quite accurate. You ought to see him when he ain't smilin'.

Dunno about Dave but I tried smiling once... folks didn't recognize me & it almost ruined my reputation of being a grumpy old halfbreed... I try not make the same mistakes too many times!

Thanks Injunbro, its good to see the dissenters come out of the woodwork. I recognize most of us lean in a similar direction but many are not as "emotionally engaged" as others. Most of us tolerate rather than castigate those of differing opinions. I suggest, respectfully a number of issues are going to play out in relatively short time. I do not seek to change anyone's desires or beliefs. I came here initially to learn. Along the way I may have picked up a point to share.

I have no desire fight battles on the order of Genesis versus Geology or any other controversy in this site. There are other places for those topics. As they relate to guns and gun politics you have my interest but please come armed with verifiable facts or identify your opinions as such.

I agree its time to push the reset button. Guns, preferably Smith & Wesson models, should capture most of our attention on a S&W site. Again, thanks for shedding light on this trend.

Was not exactly what I was referring to. No people are not going to agree, but they need to be civil and understand other people may just have a different view on things. So if someones opinion does not meet that of the majority they are basically ousted. Oh he is liberal or a Democrat he shall be ignored.
But whatever, that's why it's "Politics"
You are correct about the being civil. Nobody can really oust someone, they can only do it to themselves, all are welcome until they break the rules. Just take the moral high ground on how you treat others and whether you don't fit in or are the opposing party will never matter but people have no obligation to reply. It is stupid to use ignore on someone you are in disagreement with unless that person is a troll who sticks only to politics and nothing else. We have had some like that and the opposite are members like Bumpus who differ politically but is a Smith owner and shooter. He is NOT a troll because he posts on other subjects, but we have had a few that was all you got, politics only and nothing else. I can see why a person would ignore that type of member and poster.

Group Hug......

I'm not much of a hug'er.....As y'all can see.

*
I'll talk politics with ya.....But, I won't argue about politics nor about what the Bible says.
Exactly, you are more than welcome to hold your beliefs dear to you. I am comfortable with mine. Ask me and I will share with you but am not fond of those who try to shove their doctrine on to me.

What’s a grout hug?

Kevin

As I get older and my gun collection has grown i find my self buying less guns because I have just about everything I need or want, this of course leads to less post about guns and more post about other things, Grand children , camping and projects.
I always felt comfortable posting about those things here because they have actually provided a spot for that. from time to time I find myself getting caught up in the political stuff and I try to back off because it just raises my blood pressure !! its not that I don't have a opinion I just get aggravated, I like Injunbro have noticed a difference and just avoid those post , I still enjoy coming here and would like to keep it the friendly forum it has been for the past years .the mods do seem to keep a lid on things so hopefully it will continue to be the great place it has always been.

Ya' know.......in todays' politically charged world, it seems to be the topic on everyone's mind. I can understand that, and everyone has a right to his (her) opinion. The Progressive Liberals are driving me crazy with their talk of socialism, and their 'Hate Trump' attitude. It bothers me when I see people like Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and the 'others' still walking around free....not in jail.......yet!!!! Why aren't these people being brought to justice???? How is that even possible???? Things are sure screwed up!!!! Bob

Yeah, well........things here ARE getting a little bizarre.

I got accused of racism and I have never made a racist statement in my life.

Somebody doesn't know what they're talking about.

I don't mind getting called if I make a mistake, but let's make sure an accusation like racism can be verified.

You bet I'm offended.

Considering my heritage, it would be pretty hard for me to be racially motivated or make a racial statement in as much as half of me is black. I don't like using that word black because in reality African Americans are just a different (darker) shade than a WASP is. No one is black and no one is white. We are all a different shade, nothing more. I can get pretty dark in the summer but I always revert back to a paler shade in the winter.

The problem is culture........NOT color.

I suspect you wouldn't fit in very well in one of the urban ghettos.

Culture.

I would like to apologize for adamantly arguing a political issue from my point of view as a moderate Republican on a gun forum. I know better. I think I just felt spurred on by the insults and denouncements that appeared almost immediately.

There is something ironic about a thread OP of "Friendly forum" that contains posts referring to forum members as idiots. At the very least, the person that called Lostintheozone "Lostintheobamazone" ought to consider apologizing to a member who's been here for 7 years. Insulting people is never friendly.

I don't want to. Let me be clear, I have friends that live in the hood and I'm always careful to be out of there by nightfall. Just because they live in the hood don't make them bad, sometimes it's all they can afford. Not always a clear choice.

I don't 'hate' anyone. It's not in me to hate. I may dislike someone and if I do, I avoid any contact with them and that applies to this forum and in real life. I was raised to accept differences in people be it race, or nationality. Growing up in a mixed family, my dad was white and American Indian, my mom was African American (though you couldn't tell it by looking at her) made me very aware of racial differences (we lived in a white Catholic neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio). I was always very careful about not revealing my heritage in school or sports. better to be 'one of the guys' than to be singled out. It took me until I was a young adult to accept my heritage and now I embrace it with no issue, but it took time and maturity.

People around here, where I live and farm don't know and I've never alluded to it. My wife knows as does my son of course but generally no one else. Reason being is because, like it or not, we live in a racially polarized society and no matter how the talking heads say it isn't so, it is and will be that way, probably forever.

Some things are best left undiscussed among strangers. Not even my immediate family (on my wife's side know (unless my wife told them which I don't believe she ever would.). I don't want to be judged by that. I want to be judged as a person, not a thing of curiosity.

I'll leave it at that.

Republicans are automatically assumed to be racists. That is crazy. In the '60s the Democrats fought LBJs civil rights bills. And Lincoln freed the slaves. I don't care what color anybody is. We're all God's children.
I also don't care if people have a different political view than I do. I am a VERY Conservative Republican. I have a friend who is a self proclaimed Socialist. We're still friends. He is also a Brewers fan and I like God's team...the Cubs.
We tease each other but remain friends.
Jim
