A friend that manages a local gun shop called me Thursday and said he had a S&W 4 inch model 28-2 on consignment.
I was not really looking for one because I have a "N" series 4 and 6 inch, but my gut told me to go look.
To my suprise, it was an "S" series in 98%, with football diamond targets, with two full boxes of shells, 50, 38's and 50, 357's factory.
The gun dated at 1967, with no box, tools or papers.
$475.00 was the asking price, I offered $450.00 and got it.
I pick it up on Tuesday and will post pic's.
Update, the diamond grips ended up being for a "K" frame, I kept them and put some magnas on it.

Re: I know you would do it, Model 28-2, "S" series.

You are right. I would have too.

I've got a 28 no dash in 6", but don't have a 4" Highway Patrolman just yet. Good on you!
