At the local pawn shop and came across this pistol and just fell in love with it does anyone know what this is I have a lot of third gen pistols but this one is unusual it's in easily 90%conditon and a performance center gun at that I am looking for the history not the value I believe this is going to be an interesting find pics are attached

According to the SCSW, this is an enhanced version of the Shorty 45. Match grade ported barrel, white dot post front sight with all black Novak Lo-Mount rear sight. Ambi spring loaded decocker. Titanium coated spherical barrel bushing. It shipped with a aluminum case. Product code 170098 for RSR. 1998 Retail was $1,021

Thanks I thought it would be interesting to find out what this one was any idea of how many were produced this one is just like you stated except it's a 3 dot sight set up

I have done some research seems the run was 603 produced and 1/2 were black on blue slide and 1/2=were silver on stainless slide

WOW Great Find a Smith Wesson .45 Recon Performance Center Gun With the REC Serial number prefix. Basically a 4513 completely reworked by the Center They only produced about 300 of them in 1998

sold for about $950 each back then. GREAT FIND
