Can someone help me find out the year my S&W .32 Double Action 4th Model Revolver was made?
The serial number is 120781.

It is important for me that the revolver was manufactured at the latest on December 31, 1890, so that we can recognize it as an antique weapon in the Czech Republic.

This label is on the barrel:

SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A. PAT'D JAN. 24.65
JULY 11.65. August 24. 69. REISSUE JULY 25. 71. MAY 11.80. JAN.3.82

Can anyone provide information on this?

Thank you in advance.
Lug

Welcome to the forum from Texas, where many Czechs settled and thrived! We do love kolaches! The dialect most associated with Texan Czechs is Moravian.

Mine is a 1128xx serial, and dates to 1905-1906. Since your serial is larger, I would think your gun is newer than 1906. The design is quite old, showing a most recent patent date of 1882, but they kept making them well into the 1900's. The finish on yours is excellent!

Halo Texas,
Thanks for your answer. It helped me alot. I think the year the turret was made (1905-1906) is an approximate estimate. It can probably not be determined more precisely.
Thanks again.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020.
