Got a lesson today. I took the day off work and went fishing with the wife. The lake we were on has a size limit on crappie of 9". We caught alot of crappie and most were nice size, but the ones that were close I would pull out the lip and stretch them out on the bump board. I said to my wife at one point that I am not sure if streching is legal. As it turns out it isn't.
In the mid afternoon my wife said "why is that boat heading right at us" and I knew it was the Dnr. Everything was fine but one fish that was 1/4" under size, I explained that I pulled the lip out and was told that is not how to measure. Long story short that one fish cost me $75.00, I was ticked but took my medicine. So don't stretch your fish in central Il.
