anyone know anything about these guns?
neighbor got two handguns given to him.
one is a Hopkins and Allen single shot 38 cal octagon barrel.
i believe this to be a black power cartridge gun.

gun is nickle plated, look in overall good condition.
no trigger guard on what i always referred yo as a "spur" trigger.
has a removable cylinder too. only real info i can find on it besides name and caliber is patent was granted for this model on May 27 1879
i do have a serial number "i think" but will not post it for now.

the other one is a "Texas Scout" 22 rimfire made by Herbert Schmidt in Germany.
i have the serial number for that one too.
the scout has the option of switching to 45 long, but it was converted to 22 LR and we did bot get the 45 parts.

The 38 S&W was a good round but not quite as good as 38 S&W special. If you look for it you can usually find it.

i know all about the 38 smith round, i have one. i was more interested in finding out anything about the gun.
there is very little out there on them i can find.
i saw one post where one sold for $80, and another that sold for $6,000. but no mention of model numbers on the ones sold.

$6k? Only if it were studded with big diamonds. They are a fair quality gun but nothing to get excited about. $50-$200 is about the range I see them changing hands at.
