I have a highway patrolman revolver. When shooting or cycling the action there are two positions on the cylinder where the action is not smooth . It requires more effort to shoot it. The rest of the time the action is smooth. Would you think this is an issue with the ratchet or the hand. Seems to me it must be the ratchet but I guess it could be something else. Ideals?

Thanks
Steve

Like jonesy814 said, look closely at the cylinder face and the underside of the Extractor star. Look for crud or slag deposits. You might need to use a magnifying glass to see a problem because it doesn't take much to throw one or two cylinder positions out of whack enough to cause a a rough trigger pull for those particular holes.

A bent rod can happen when someone repeatedly slaps the cylinder into the closed position.
