Neat 44 Magnum. It is always great to have one with a "family" history. Very much like the 1911A1 carried by my father in WWII.

Can't be too many S&W 44 mags that actually went to war. Charles Askins wrote of packing one in the late 1950s during his military travels.

Charles Askins described in a gun magazine years ago how he killed a Viet Cong with a S&W 44 Magnum. He said it was the first enemy killed in RVN with this type of weapon. I know that a Ruger .357 Blackhawk was carried by a marine in the Domican Republic in 1965. I don't know if he shot anyone with it or not.
