Help with identifying how old this gun is

You have a WW2 era Military & Police model. Yours looks like a British Service Revolver. They were chambered in 38 S&W, NOT 38 S&W Special, though yours may have been reamed to accept them. Grips are the original style and the gun appears to have been heavily buffed then refinished. You can see that the ejector rod has a blued finish, while the rest doesnt

Yep. A Victory BSR. Looks like a 5" barrel. It would have shipped in 1942. You should have a matching serial number on the back of the cylinder and on the barrel flat.

I picked up a nice shoulder holster for my 4" BSR. It was modified in the UK before coming back home.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! The finish of that British service revolver is original. It is a phosphate finish but the extractor rods were blued from the factory. The question is does it still chamber 38 S&W or has it been reamed for 38 Special? If you don't have a 38 special cartridge to check by inserting it, take a picture of the chambers in the cylinder with good lighting from the front of the cylinder so we can see into the chambers, and we can tell you if it's been reamed.

That's fine because it will still shoot those. However it doesn't mean that it wasn't reamed for 38 Special.

Hey Sean,

Front of cylinder to muzzle.

I'm thinking it is a 5"...(looks long for a 4")LOL....Take a look at the Bianchi 5H series...should have a 5" "K" Frame?
