Hello All,

I am new to the site and I am in need of some help identifying a S&W Russian Model. The serial number is 7986 and I am trying to learn the year and the approximate value of the revolver and any other pertinent information that you could provide. I would greatly appreciate anyone's help with this or if you could point me in the right direction that would be great. I have tried several internet searches, but I keep coming up short.

Thanks in advance and have a great evening.

Heath

Welcome to the forum.

Nice revolver but out of my ken. Someone will be along to give you information. About all I “know” is it should be chambered for the 44 Russian cartridge. If you plan to shoot it I would suggest black powder and lead bullets. The original bullet weight was 246 grain, if my memory is working correctly.
