Trying to help a friend. S&W Airweight snubbie in .38 special CTG. Six round with square butt. Serial number is D665752. Person that has it says it is all steel (checked with magnet). But it looks like black paint to me (from photo). At first I thought it was the airweight chief's special but the six round added info makes me think some other airweight. What other airweights were made in a six round revolver?

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! The Model 12 which was a Model 10 airweight. Have him open the cylinder and read the MOD number stamped inside the yoke cut. The airweights were aluminum alloy so the finish would be anodized rather than blued.

Welcome to the forum. There is enough steel in the internal parts to make a good magnet stick to an aluminum frame sometimes. The crane & barrel would be blued and the frame anodized as Guy said
