I have a K-22 masterpiece dated 1948. The width of the thumb-rest part of the hammer is .50. I have a K-38 that measures just .375. In my s&w book, it says that .375 is the proper width. Does anyone know whether a person could order a hammer with a wider thumb-rest from the factory back then? Has anyone else seen one of these wider hammers on a K-22?
Thanks

The K Frame target hammer was introduced in 1949. Only a factory letter will tell if you have one of the earliest guns so equipped.
