Welcome to the forum from West Tennessee. Glad your gun got fixed and shoots to your liking. S&W is a great company even their newer guns.

Welcome to the forum. It's unfortunate to hear of your problem with a new S&W pistol. They do stand behind their products with a good warranty.

Companies often make major mistakes when they are under market pressure and management acts in a short sighted manner. S&W just went through another company reorganization, splitting off from their conglomerate. It's not excuse, but quality issues are typical when there are management problems.

You can design a firearm properly and test it, or end up fixing the design after the product is in the hands of customers. The first takes more time, but is always the right way to go.

You can rush manufacturing and eliminate or compromise product testing and quality control processes, or you can fix products after you ship them to customers. The first takes more commitment and better employees and is always the better way to go. It appears that Smith and Wesson quality control thinks it's more desirable and acceptable to fix their products after they have been shipped to customers. That's always a mistake.
