Recently acquired this revolver and wanted to find a good set of S&W grips correct for the gun. Can anyone let me know what grips to look for?

You will probably find that a couple of styles of grip stocks can be correct for the 17-2 revolver:

Diamond Magna

Have you seen "Q" lately? Much too techy for these blued masterpieces. He just wouldn't have the appreciation.

any grip for a SMITH & WESSON "K" frame, Square Butt, would be the size you need for the model 17-2

mrerick has posted correct photo's of what the original factory grips would have looked like, they can usually be found at most gun shows or on e-bay (usually pricey on e-bay)

The targets are nice if you have large hands. For small or medium size grip, find some non-diamond magma grips for comfort and model authenticity.

You can find K-frame Magna's on gun broker. I think yours came with Magna's not target stocks. You have the standard hammer and trigger, and they came with Magna's.

ussmanlovede36 is correct, most model 17's & 18' shipper with the magna grip.
