I had these Thai grips on my 638 for a while and decided to try them on my model 60.

I had the revolver at the range the other day and while they did well in general with recoil, I had 1 small problem. On one shot I must have been gripping high and ended up losing some flesh

The only thing I could find on the grips with an edge to it was the cut-out for the hammer

I went to work on it with a file & sandpaper

I never really cared for the color and my sanding revealed some nice wood grain so I decided to strip & refinish them. Got a dish, acetone and my wifes toothbrush. I popped out the medallions and went to work. Whatever finish was on it came off pretty easy. The brush was to get into the checkering. When dry I finished shaping the hammer cut out and gave it a light sanding with 400 grit

I finished up with 4 coats of Danish Oil finish, then Renwax.
I think the color is perfect and no more sharp edges

Came out looking better that when original! Good job. The new look enhances the revolver.
