Wanted to say hello and thanks for the wonderful place to exchange information. Briefly. I am a S&W lover only because, as a young R.L.E.O. in the mid 60's we had to purchase our own weapons. I did use the Colt revolver briefly (Python) and found it to be less co-operative than the Smiths. My best purchase was a Highway Patrolman, pre Mod. 28 that I had the factory cut the barrel to 5", TH, TT, White Outline rear & McGivern gold bead front sight. Bright re-blue instead of dull, used in Police Competition. Old 5 screw guns have such a smooth action, IMHO. Looking forward to my association here.

(carl418), yes I do still own it and appreciate it even more now than then, it is sporting a set of smooth rosewood targets from that era also. If you missed with this gun it wasn't the fault of the gun. Expanding the story a little. This gun was bought by me as a 6"nickel gun equipped as any Mod. 28 would be. (Even then I knew a factory nickel gun was rare) When I sent it to Smith for the modifications listed, they returned it to me and stated that they would not touch anything not plated by them. Needless to say I was very disappointed but I met Mr. Roy Jinks at a gun show and shared my story with him and he, in-turn advised me to call him at work on the following Monday. I did and the rest is History. This plus his vast knowledge of S&W will explain why Mr. Jinks holds such a high place of respect in my world. I realize S&W has made many beautiful handguns but none more attractive than this IMHO, of course. Thanks for allowing me to rant.
