Hi all,

I'm completely new to the world of handguns, so hoping to learn lots of tips and tricks from the more seasoned members.

I just purchased my first handgun, a S&W EZ Shield 9mm

My intent right now is to just use it at the range, but will eventually want to carry it when I feel more comfortable.

Glad to be here :)

Welcome from central Ga. You made a good choice for your pistol and intent to practice. You will see some great guns on here and pick up some good info on a variety of topics.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

One of the best things you can do now (before you start going to the range) is find a NRA Basic Pistol certification class at a nearby club that has volunteer instructors like the one I belong to. These volunteers are generally dedicated to shooting sports as an interest rather than a business, and the ones with experienced teaching teams can have good instructors and coaches available.

There are a few fundamentals that you should learn and understand before shooting. By taking the class first, you'll avoid picking up bad habits that have to be "unlearned". This will help you shoot more accurately and more safely.
