Good for you! Flinters seem to be strangly over priced here in Az. I have wanted one but,,
I have some cast 50s I'll never use, Send me a mailing address and they are yours.

Leighton,

Good for you! You've embarked down a road less traveled. Wish I was there to put a few downrange with you. I believe you'll be impressed with what such old technology is capable of.

Congratulations, Amigo...well done :)

Giz, Thank you! I'm looking forward to it, and its off to find some black powder. Probably will have to start out with Pyrodex till my LGS can get BP in stock. I might get lucky at the only other dealer here in my town as he tends to have some of the older stuff just sitting around.

Two very nice example. Congratulations. Let the smoke commence.
i know he's terrable,,, has me thinking about maybe a little .32 or.36 cal flinter just to "terrorize" the squrriels around here...

kritter, LOL...

A .32 for squirrels is the ticket :) And please don't believe that old song about them being about equal to a .22 magnum, either. They leave huge holes in small game, and the old timers shooting the .32 and .36's tried to bark the tree they were in to kill them. If your looking to get a little more out of the gun, get the .36 Cal.... I'd have no problem taking a Coyote with one.

In a good gun, these two calibers are capable of great accuracy...

On another forum, I think I read one of the best sentiments of what it is truly about...
Wish it was me that put this to words.....as I've never been able to put into such brilliant perpective ;)

"It was a peak experience, the whoosh, the heavy THUNK, my ephemeral essence captured in a such a primitive rite....a little magic dust, a handy heavy element, a little fire and ssswwwhwhooooossshhhhhhTHUNK!!...the metaphysics of history mingled with sulphur and saltpeter, coarse raw chunks of fulminating alchemy blossoming into a cloud of brilliant white smoke and huge smiles...."
