Stopped in by the local Paw shop and saw this Stevens 520. It was in need of some TLC and does have a pitted barrel. The barrel is still OK to shoot and is made around 1925. It is an earlier parent to the Wards Western Field Model 30 I got earlier. Will need to replace the pad but is very smooth action. Take down is also smooth and easy.A great Browning design shotgun at a very affordable price. Nice old 12 gauge. The safety is the little triangle in front of the trigger and have seen other forums reference it as a "suicide safety". Back, safety is on and pushed forward safety is off. The Model 30 has safety on the Tang. Markings on the receiver are J Stevens Arms Company and no markings of gauge or other information anywhere else. I am glad I am able to find many of these older guns that seem to have escaped fame and the higher prices.

Very nice! I have an old Wards Western Field Model 30 with the same safety as yours. About the only thing I have that belonged to my Grandfather.
