You have to admit the .41 Mag is the sexiest straight wall handgun caliber of all time....
Hell, it's so damn cute, that all you have to do is compare it to any other magnum round and folks start swearin' and rolling around in the mud. Grown men get into tizzy fits as soon as you mention one. Why I've seen huge veins stickin out of foreheads whenever I mention that the other big bores are just that....big boars

Heck, as far as most savvy gunfolks go, they've already written off the 44 Magnum. And that puny lil' .357 can be shot out of a J-frame. Whats' up with dat?

Nope, it's got to be settled once and for all. The biggest shame is that all those bigger holes cannot be sized back down to a sensible .41 cal. Y'all have to junk them or bore them out to somethin' usefull....Like a real mans' caliber ~ 45 Long Colt...

The good news is that at least those .357's might be able to be turned into .41 Specials......

I agree 100%!!

'Course, there may be a few members of this forum who would argue with us over this...

Ok,,,,,the 41 mag is kinda cute..but.....everything it does can be outdone with a .44 special.....need a bump up in power ?.44 mag..(.429 S&W long for some people  )
.357.. proven track record... and just so reliable....but so tiny....
.45 long colt... yes it's a real man's caliber.. this is true....
but,,,,,if you really need to get someones attention,, just sitting a loaded cartrage in a room of gun nuts will spark numerous conversations, gasps of awe, and cause the faint of heart to go weak in the knees...pulses to quicken..beads of sweat to appear....
the cartrage.... the biggest mac daddy of them all..... with the ability to stop a raging buick.....
yes,,, yes my friends.i'm talking of the .500 S&W
it's the Pamela Anderson of straight wall cartrages big ,brash & sexy.... the one everyone would love to play with....but only few dare...

500 Mag = Overcompensation, if ya know what I mean. ;)

44 Mag = Everyone has one. Overdone.

357 Mag = Too small, even more overdone than 44.

41 is where it's at. Although all that accuracy can sure be boring sometimes.

I agree. I've long considered the .41 Magnum a cut above the rest. Have been a fan of it but never owned one. Had money burning a hole in my pocket one day back in the late 1970s and ventured forth to purchase a .41 Magnum, something I'd wanted since I was a kid. They were out of .41s at the store in our small town but had .44 Magnums so I went down the .44 Magnum road. Been intending to rectify that ever since.

Why not just buy a 357 and a 41 and a 44 and 454 or 460.As you all know with a 357 you also have a 38 and with a 44 you also have a 44 special. With the casull you also have a 45 as well as with the 460 you get a 45 and a casull. The 41 can be your reloader dream and be loaded to to do all the things a 38 to a 44 mag can do.You skip the casull and get a 460 for longer range big game hunting. If you want to shoot elephants you can get a 500.So all you need is a 41 a 460 and a 500 and your covered
But since they are all exspensive to buy and shoot your better off to get a k-22 and go kill some targets and cans out back.har har har

What I really want to do is get some discussion started on what the 41 will do that the 10mm won't. Fact is, if I'd bought the 41 first, I never would have bought a 44. However, by the time I bought my first and only 41, I already had 2 44 handguns and a Marlin lever in 44 and nearly 1000 rounds of ammo. So, when the car broke down, the 41 went to fix it.

Kinda miss that 41. It was a shooter.

The only 1911 style that will so far hold up to my loads. It is said you get a good one or a bad one-- I got lucky I guess. Need some more mags though.:D

The 10mm can't be as powerful as the 41 magnum. Everyone knows the 10mm is smaller. Duh, 10. 41. Come on!

" Nevertheless the .41 magnum has it's proponents- mostly eccentrics who perceive anything well-received and popular as the province of the great unwashed."

I think that pretty much sums it up...
