A while back (4months ago) I informed you all of how the firing pin on my 66-2 broke. Well I am happy to say it IS back home where it belongs and as good as new. Going to take it out to the range tomorrow so Jonesy814 and I can give it a nice work out and then make it my EDC as before. Range report will follow.

Was a little bummed at my gunsmith for taking so long and thought I might get a discount on the charge for the repair, but no luck.

I'm glad you got it back even if it did take too long. As they say, better late than never...

With a spacer under the hammer. We changed the FP in friend's 66(like yours) in about 20 mins on my table. Without removing the hammer from the gun. We even reused the old rivit since it was already flared on one side. You GS just didn't get to it.

Curt, may not be all the GS fault as I had my 627 in for some parts to retain the cylinder in (my fault for losing them) and took 8 weeks to get parts in. Guess the virus took a toll as a lot of the parts warehouses old and new are in Dem controlled cities. As they said at least you got it back. Just enjoy it now.

My gunsmith did tell me that he was having a difficult time getting parts from his distributers in NY state. I am glad it's back.

He should have been able to get a fire pin from S&W. Anyway do you know what caused it to break?

As far as I know It hadn't been shot that much by the previous owner (ex sheriff of a small town near by), and I and Jonesy814 have put a couple hundred rounds through it prior to the pin failing. Faulty pin from factory maybe? Don't really know but it's the only time I have experienced and FP break. Just glad it's back and will be trying it out this afternoon.:)

Thanks. One of my "Grail Guns" that I was fortunate to get at a great price. Was told about it and purchased it shortly after getting home from having a root canal procedure earlier that morning.

Just got back from the range and I gotta tell ya, after a few practice rounds, that I could not be any happier with how the 66-2 functioned. There will be more info with pics on todays range report that jonesy814 will be posting. Great outcome.:D
