Factory letters

Hi all, After a couple years of searching I found my “ birth year gun”. It’s a beautiful 1950 vintage pre 14 ,6” 38 special with matching grips, and original gold box. The box has the “nox rust” wrapping paper in it which thru some research I believe could be the original paper the revolver was wrapped in ( interesting history on who invented that paper).
Anyway, I would like to get a “Factory letter”. Does anyone have the latest letter application form they could link me? Are those letters still done by Roy Jinks? Are they now $100.00?

Hi Kframer! The S&W factory no longer supports the Letter of Authenticity process. However, that process has been taken over by the Historical Foundation and Roy Jinks is still the Historian although he now has assistants who do many of the letters. Yes, the letters cost $100 unless you are a member of the S&W Collector's Association and/or the Historical Foundation who get a discount.

You might still get one with Dr. Jinks' signature, but the last three I received (all this year) were signed by Don Mundell, one of the Asst. Historians. I have two signed by Dr. Jinks, one from 1980 and the other from 2020. My last ones were $100 each, but I'm not a SWHF member. I did receive them in about 3-1/2 weeks' time, and they were all requested at the same time.
