Wondering what I have here, been to more than 5 gun shops and nobody can tell what it is or how much its worth.
This is a 5 shot revolver with markings indicating it was manufactured in the town of Suhl East Germany after 1948.
I happen to know that the gun was procured in 1945 so something is fishy there.

Later on the east German government started using that same proof mark an guns, I've seen it on a P-38. It's caused a lot of confusion. As far as value on the piece it is more of a curiosity than anything else, I would guess most people would not be interested in buying it.

The East German C/U mark has a different appearance. This is from a EG rework of a Weimar era Luger:
