Wondering what I have here, been to more than 5 gun shops and nobody can tell what it is or how much its worth.
This is a 5 shot revolver with markings indicating it was manufactured in the town of Suhl East Germany after 1948.
I happen to know that the gun was procured in 1945 so something is fishy there.

This article discusses the Crown/Crown/U proof symbol used in Suhl. It indicates that this mark was used there in the civil proof house prior to 1912.

That age would track with the appearance of your revolver.

Later on the east German government started using that same proof mark an guns, I've seen it on a P-38. It's caused a lot of confusion. As far as value on the piece it is more of a curiosity than anything else, I would guess most people would not be interested in buying it.
