My brother from Westchester, NY calle me today and says he spotted a Colt Detective Special (3rd gen) in his local dealer case...looked like new...the price was $300. He actually walked out without it....lucky for him, his younger brother knows better. I told him to run back and buy it....he already has one but I sure don't. My dad still carries his 2nd gen from 1969....now we will all have one... :D

How did that get priced at $300.00? Sip, I'm glad for you, but I'm mystified at the same time. I stopped by my local shop today (Randall's) for some birdshot and spied a few specimens.... gun-wise, $300 would get you the penciled imprint of a weapon that was lifted out of the case for closer examination! Great score, I'm happy for you and your family!

Nice one Mickey....that's just like my dad's that I will inherit one day and put away....but if I get the 3rd gen, I'll carry that...and actually, I think I can do an LEO exept transfer which might be easier than the family paperwork.... ;)

Blackcloud...the gun store guy told my brother that all anyone wants today is autos...glad to see there are still gun owners and sellers who don't visit the gun forums....the longer they stay in the dark, the better ;)

Whoa!! $300.00? Man, I just saw one today at the Paso del Norte Gun Collector's Show, new in the box, for $900. I'd have been all over that like white on rice.

Oh, wow! Look at that! I've just been promoted to Advanced Member. Do I get a cookie?

Nice catch Sip. The only Colt in the family I am aware of is a Cobra with the hammer shroud attached that my Grandfather purchased and gave to my Dad. I guess it must be somewhere past 40 years old but in great shape. Sorry, no pics of it at this time.
