Trump has done it... I'm surprised.

President Trump has invoked the Defense Production Act to make General Motors manufacture ventilators to help fight the coronavirus outbreak. The announcement was made hours after Trump complained in tweets that GM and Ford were not doing enough to help produce the medical equipment during the pandemic.

“Our negotiations with GM regarding its ability to supply ventilators have been productive, but our fight against the virus is too urgent to allow the give-and-take of the contracting process to continue to run its normal course,” Trump said in a statement. “GM was wasting time. Today’s action will help ensure the quick production of ventilators that will save American lives.”

You keep throwing out worst case and/or exaggerated numbers to bolster your fear-mongering. If we want to just throw out 'averaged' 'statistics', about 1800 people died yesterday from cardiovascular disease. SIX times as many as this virus.
The numbers I cited are not worst case or exaggerated, they are what has happened and is happening today. For example, I said there were 15,000 new cases reported today and 250 deaths so far. As of right now, there are 15,886 new cases reported and 272 deaths reported so far today.

Rather than embarrass yourself, educate yourself. Click here-- https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

Here's the Johns Hopkins site. Use the third table list on the left (admin3) to see how it's concentrated in cities:

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/map.html

The transmission of the virus is more intense in concentrated populations of our large cities. That would be expected.

Look how fatalities are distributed... Mainly in urban centers.

You should expect the number of cases to rise rapidly as more people are tested. That is not newsworthy.

This information, including the per capita numbers, is useful:

https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus-data

This also shows how few people we've tested to this point (now 313 per million).

The problem is you take numbers that are unremarkable considering the nature of a viral pandemic, and present them as if they are earth shattering. You consistently post "doom/gloom", "sky is falling" positions as if this is going to kill half the population. The mortality rate is currently at 1.5% of those confirmed to be infected, and that will continue to fall as testing expands and more recovered and/or asymptomatic individuals are discovered.

Old info, worthless. (see below)

They show the US only testing 103,000 through March 19. Things are moving too rapidly to discuss using week old info.

According to the Trump admin, the US had already done 370,000 tests as reported March 25. Perhaps many more in the last couple days.

Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House's coronavirus response coordinator, told reporters, "We now have 370,000 tests that have been done. The majority of those -- over 220,000 in the last eight days, which, those of you who have been tracking the South Korea numbers, put us equivalent to what they did in eight weeks that we did in eight days."

If the actual numbers make you feel the sky is falling that is on you, not me.

I have posted no such thing about half the population dying or anything of the kind. You would do well to stop making things up and start paying attention. Orherwise, you're just making noise in an otherwise intelligent exchange of information and discussion.

If you want to keep up with the accurate current stats here is a good site to bookmark
https://covid19stats.live/
You can click on any country and get current stats on the number tested, confirmed, deaths, recovered, etc.
We're up to 626k people tested, 102k confirmed infected and 1600 total deaths.

Of course the numbers are still very skewed since we are still pretty much testing only those with symptoms, and we're not testing for anybody for antibodies (no detection of cases of people who have recovered).

So we have a 1.5% mortality for confirmed cases and still no clue regarding the number of undetected cases & undetected recovered people - which may outnumber the confirmed cases by 2, 3, 5, or even 10 to one.

No matter how you slice it though, the mortality rate was very exaggerated - by a factor of 250%-300% initially. Not saying it isn't serious, just that the WHO and CDC and media exaggerations have contributed to people's distrust and disbelief in the seriousness of this whole thing.

Yeah, they have finally found a way to push him around and manipulate him. He's damned if he does (goes against his better judgement and alienates his base) and damned if he doesn't (MSM harping on accusations of his not caring and doing nothing while citizens die).

He's got a razor-thin line to try to walk.

Speaking of... There's supposed to be a new test(s) in the works that will provide on the spot results in minutes. No sending off to a lab and all that. That would be a game changer if it could be produced in the millions quickly.

He sure does... it's an impossible walk. That said, his approval ratings are supposed to be hitting record highs! Lefty heads must be exploding. :D

Good site, thanks. It makes easier to see the acceleration.

When American Greatness wrote the article, March 21, deaths per day was 50. A week later it has steadily grown to 400 per day, today.

It doesn't require a math wizard to understand that rate of acceleration needs to level off very soon. Hopefully the lockdown will stop the acceleration and turn around the numbers in the right direction.

Yeah and we need to start testing people for the antibodies too so we can get a true number of how many have been infected and therefore a truly accurate statistical picture on all aspects of the whole problem. The sooner we debunk the hype with real, accurate numbers the sooner we can see where we realy are and start planning our path out of this whole mess.

I think Dr Oz said tonight on Laura Ingrahm that that had been approved. Tells you in 5 minutes if you are positive and 13 minutes if negative.

New York is using the anti body treatment. They also started the hydroxychloroquine tests on Tuesday. More good news on that drug from France tonight. Study released tomorrow; not a controlled test but a test of 80 people. 79 reacted well.

Folks you can not just go by how many have "tested" positive. At least around here you can not get tested UNTIL you have all the symptoms. So by then you are very sick and have been exposed to x number of other people who then need to wait to get tested and so on.

About a week ago the number of case in Florida was around 50 or so. Today right now it is 2235.
Deaths have gone from 13 to 28

If folks are just looking at mortality rates, sure percentage wise it is not that high UNLESS you or a family member is one of them!

https://floridahealthcovid19.gov/#latest-stats
Well today before the 11am update there are now 3,054 and 46 dead!

But who is counting
