Hi all
I was hoping one of you would be able to tell me what year, and most importantly what sort of factory stocks, a New Service sn #3396xx would have been shipped with? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

Amigo, That's a pretty late serial number.... probably late 1938 or maybe 1939. As such I would have shipped with wood stocks that mounted a Silver Colt Medallion..... good luck finding a pair.... there were nine very subtle changes in the grip fram shape of the New Service in it's 40 years of production.... I'll bet your gun is in .38 Special....

Drew's close, 1936 started with the serial number 339500 and ran through 341000. Stocks should be checkered walnut with the rampant colt medallion. Damned fine revolver. I collect New Service revolvers. The only thing better than one Colt New Service revolver is two.
