I recently purchased a model 642 .38 SP +P hammer-less and need to get a leather holster for it. This is my 1st handgun with a barrel less than 3", it is 1.875. I will be CC and prefer a leather OWB holster with a thumb strap. Would have you found that works very well for this revolver?

If you have to have a thumb strap, I guess I can't help you. I just don't like the strap on concealed carry. It's just something to get flummoxed up when I need it the most. If you decide to do without, I really like a Kramer Belt Scabbard for my snubby carry OWB. They are custom formed to your make, model and barrel. Retention is excellent. Pricey, but worth every penny.

If you really want a retention strap , a Bianchi Black Widow is a good choice. The strap is reinforced by a spring steel tab and works well. I carry my M36 in one I've had for years.

I use a Versa Carry for my 442 and SP-101 ruger. Holds tight and easy to cover. Not a strap fan. No body should get that close to the gun.
