I read in the Brill thread that the Askins Avenger has a snap on strap.

I own an old one of the Askins Avenger which has a strap that the strap needs replaced but it looks to me as if it's riveted, not a snap. This strap has a slot in the leather to go over the uncocked hammer (very loose) or over the cocked hammer and beavertail. That's a much better fit but I don't like to carry a 1911 that way if there's a round in the chamber.

Does anybody know if the early ones' straps are a snap on or not?

Thanks.

Never mind. I answered my own question--I gave the strap a good yank and sure enough, it's snapped on.

Yes they are!

I really like this holster. Hope I can find one for my S&W 39-2. I'd be more inclined to carry it than a 1911.
