Randy, your SW Model 66, with APD rack number 118, was brought into service in 1980 at a cost of $229.00. It was first issued to an officer on 6/10/1980, who carried this gun for over 4 years. As a side note this officer went on to retire as an Assistant Chief with APD.
A few months later it was then issued to another officer who carried it for over 5 years. This officer would retire from APD as a Lieutenant.
On 7/03/1990, your gun was turn in, and eventually sold due to transitioning to semi's.

If you'd like a copy please let me know.

Hope this helps,

Larry

Very nice!!! I have a San Antonio PD Model 65 that I'd like to know the history of someday.

APD?!?! You probably gave me a ticket back in the early 1980s when I was a snot-nosed undergraduate at UT!! :D I wouldn't blame you one bit! I deserved it!!

Thanks for keeping all of our dumb a##$# safe up there!

Welcome Larry, that is a nice collection, to say the least. I certainly admire your focus and perseverance in acquiring the 27-2s, and your old department's records. It must have taken years. I see it did take years, 20 of them. Kudos to you sir.

Jim, no problem researching. I found the inventory card for 66-1 marked APD 55. However the serial number is not matching what you provided? Can you double check please? Very well could be a mistake in the records.

Thanks Larry, and sorry for the delay. I was out of town and then had trouble getting logged back in.

Yes, the serial number is 70K2701 (stamped above the model number). On the crane (I think that is what it is called), there is also stamped E1 and below that 64420. I hope this helps.

Jim,
SW Model 66, marked APD 55 was brought into inventory in June 1980 at a cost of $229.00.
It was first issued to an officer on June 10 1980. It was carried by 4 different officers through its service time with APD. The inventory card to not show when it was retired , however it was still being carried into the early 90's.
Hope this helps,
Larry
