Hello member's
As some of you Know S&W used to Import some fine rifle's one being the high quality Husqvarna rifles. I own one made in 1967 that has the Model 1640 action. It is an "A" Grade gun with the High Gloss Urethane stock, fine checking and high Polished bluing. It is chambered in Springfield 30-06 and is a fine accurate gun. There is one draw back though and that is a Terrible Trigger with a wicked high trigger pull to it. I looked at options and located a great one for the Husqvarna rifles. It is made by Huber Concepts and is called their Ball bearing competition trigger. it is a fully adjustable trigger for let off as well as creep.

I had some Deep conversation with the owner of the company John Huber, he is very passionate for perfection and has chosen the fabulous Husqvarna Husqvarna rifle to mock up a drop in trigger assembly for. It is now finished and John Has agreed to send me one as well as two more trigger assemblies that are in their final stages of R&D. It should be here shortly so when it show's up, I have agreed to follow up with an in Depth article on his trigger's as well as show the accuracy result's of his ball bearing friction less triggers. He is currently the only Manufacturer out there to make a totally drop in trigger for the Husqvarna rifles Timney offer's a trigger but it requires much stock modification to use their trigger and the last thing I wanted to do was butcher a prefectly Good French Walnut stock. If this Interests you here is a link to his web page or stay tuned to watch this new project unfold, Pictures and dialog to follow. Regards, Kurt

Hello Member's
For those of you Not Familiar with the Imported S&W Husqvarna rifle's, here is my 1967 Model A rifle wearing a period correct Redfield Wide view-3-9 Power scope. I have Owned many High end rifles in the past 40 Year's but this Husqvarna is one of the Nicest one's Beating out the quality of a Pre-1965 Sako A-5 that I used to own. If you do not have one of these fine rifles you really do not know what you are missing they are a Gorgeous Super Made High Quality rifle. It is Real Sad that Husqvarna is now out of Business as I feel that they had the Highest quality rifles to have ever offered bar None.;) Regards, Kurt

Hello Gregory & Guy
I appreciate the warm welcome back the past 18 Month's have been a Little rough on me. I had to have a Third back surgery right after the second one due to two of my Disc's Rupturing. My back doctor Noticed a dark shadow on my MRI on my right Kidney so he sent me to a urologist who found it to be a cancer Tumor. I went ahead with the Third Back surgery and it was Extensive as this time I was fused from my Tail Bone to my Rib cage and Four rod's were placed, so it was a slow come back from that. Three Month's later we sceduled the Kidney surgery and two Night's before the surgery I had a dream where I would be fine through the surgery but that I would Die in the recovery room. I shared this with our Daughter, and told her that she needed to be there for her Mother. She never doubted me as the last dream I had this Vivid was when I Killed that 51 Pound Bob cat so my family Now Takes Notice when I tell them about these dreams. The Morning of surgery I told the person in charge of Putting me under about the dream that I had and she Lauged at me, saying that I could Not Possibly "Think" That I would really die as they were Prepared for complications. I still Insisted that she pay close attention to me Post Surgery. She did NOT and my Heart stopped. It took the doctor's Four attempt's with the electric shock paddles to bring me back, then I regained consciencesness. They had a Tube Jamed down my Throat and had me on Life support. I made motion's for them to remove the tube and as soon as it cleared my throat and I could Talk again, I tore that Woman That had laughed at me Before the surgery to SHRED'S. The following day I had Two major heart attack's while recovering in my hospital bed. It took Four Nitro Tablet's to get my Heart stabilized. They rushed me off to the Heart Cath. lab Telling me that they needed to see what was going on. They Instered the camera into my arteries and said that I needed a Stent of which they had Told me ahead of time that they would be placing. They took 39 Picture's of my arteries and did NOT Place the Stent that they agreed to place, I was Flaming Mad that they had done the entire proceduere and Not done what they had told me they were going to do, so when They Got me back to my Room I told them I was Checking out of the Hospital. The Nurse told me that I couldn't and I stood up out of Bed and gave her the choice of Removing my I.V. Or The Alternative was I Was Going to do it, Right In Front of Her. She Then saw How Serious I was and panicked by Obliged me and I walked out of there before they Killed me again. Once I got home about a week later I started coughing up Blood. I had my wife take me to another Hospital and they discovered that I had Ton's of Blood clot's in my Lung's. The doctor on Call said that he had never seen so many Blood clot's in Lungs before where a person was still alive, Not to mention I walked in there to be seen. They Treated me, Placed the Stent in my Heart then I caught Phenmoniea, of which they sent me home with, and I slowly got over it and made the grade again. It has Been a Very slow climb back from Death but I am getting strong ever day. I have Learned to NOT take Life for granted while Leaving other's in charge of it Due to Ther Lamness of that Entire Hospital staff that was watching over me, it almost cost me my Life. Today I took a New to me S&W Model 25-5 revolver chambered in .45 Colt to my Local Range and enjoyed some Target shooting. Here is my Target that was shot off hand @ The 25 Yard Line with some of my hand Loads. It is Not my Best Target ever shot by far, but Not bad for a Guy that was Dead Not too long ago...;) Regard's, Kurt

Holy crap! And I thought my double bypass with a heart vivisection was bad. That's got to be the worst story about malpractice that I've heard. I'm glad you shooting your 25. Take it out on the targets and relieve the stress.

Hello All
For those of you Following this Thread, My Huber concept's match grade ball bearing friction less Black Teflon finished trigger arrived in Today's Mail. Initally I was under the impression that I may have to change out the entire Husqvarna trigger assembly, but I stood to be corrected. It is simply a self contained Ball bearing trigger that is Placed into the gun's Existing Trigger assembly. It appear's that all that has to be done to install it in my gun is to drive out the Existing trigger Pin that Goes Through the Husqvarna trigger assembly, to install this Match grade trigger, I would say the entire install of it should Not be more than ten Minute's Top's. It even comes with an allen head wrench to adjust it once it is Placed in the trigerr assembly for let off Pressure and Over all Trigger Creep once it is installed is in the gun. Here is how it comes & Look's when ordered from Huber Concept's it came in a nice Padded envelope and they also sent me w Nice Ball Point Pen with their advertising name on it and a neat Sticker to Place on my Vehicle should I decide to do so, They are super Nice folok's at Huber Concept's that's for sure and they Really care about customer relation's as well as making a fine engineered trigger to solve the heavy trigger Pull issue's in these Husqvarna's. I never got anything other than the part I paid for when I delt with Timney Trigger's and their's will not hold a candle to the performance of these Huber Concept trigger's as their's is adjusted through Spring tension and has No Ball bearing design to it, and when Buying their's they Only offer it as a complete Trigger assembly, so you have to hack up your Gun's stock to fit their larger trigger assembly as well as Modify the wood around the Gun's safety lever, so that Turned me right off to begin with that is why I Turned to John Huber for his advice and Excellent product. Hello All
I sat down last Night to install my new Huber Concept's firctionless ball Ball bearing trigger in my S&W Husqvarna. The direction's are very straight forward, all you will need to do is Take your Barrel & action out of your stock, then Tap the trigger Pin out of the Trigger assembly with a small Punch and hammer and remove the stock trigger. Once that has been Taken out replace it with the Huber concept's trigger and adjust your trigger to your liking per the Instructions shown. I did end up having to remove a slight amount of wood down around my Trigger Guard assembly in my wood stock due to Extra wood in that area, Stock's will differ as S&W apparantly made the wood to fit these action's and barrels, but it was very Minimal and will Not hurt the strength, or Integrity of the stock. Once this trigger was installed I set it at 3/4 of a Pound with No creep and it feels as smooth as Velvet when the trigger breaks clean now. I look forward to getting this gun on the Range this coming week to see what kind of group's it will print now. Here is the Instructions as well as how the Huber trigger looks in a Husqvarna rifle. To me, this is the best thing to add to your Husqvarna Model 1640 action if you strive for accuracy and a Precision Trigger Huber concept's has sure filled that Need with Style, precision and High Quality. I will Post some pictures of traget's shot with thie new trigger soon. Regards, Kurt

Hello All
The Trigger Pull on these Husqvarna Model 1640 action's is at best Horrid. To me, it is the Only Fault of a finer High quality rile. I have had many High end rifles in the past 40 Years' and being that I am a Collector of fine firearms I am also a hand Loader who strives for perfection in making One Ragged hole group's on Target with my rifles. This Trigger Issues has kept me from doing that, and I am Not a Lover of Timney's Luke warm Attempt Trigger assembly that they are currently offering. Not Only do you have to Hack UP a Gorgeous stock to use it, as well as Modify the Gun's Safety lever system & the Trigger consist's of letting off the trigger of a gun through Spring Pressure on the gun's action sear and everyone Know's over time Springs ALWAYS change and get weak or stretch. That is what set's Huber concept's Trigger a Cut above the rest John Huber Engineered & designed his trigger to work with the existing Factory Husqvarna trigger assembly and he has done so by using an Ingenious Twin Precision Ball Bearing design which provide's a Millisecond Lightning Fast fast Timing Mode, where as the Bullet is Gone Long before you expect it to be, eliminating any Flinching what so ever, which is Very Common on Big Recoiling caliber's which means to The shooter supreme accuracy of the weapon as you are not waiting on a compressed spring to let lose of your trigger Sear. Evidently Timney has Little Regard for their customer's Real Need's offering the Trigger that they do & have in the past for these rifle's so I will not spend my Hard earned dollars on their Low Performance, ILL Engineered Luke waste of money Trigger assembly.

In Keeping everyone apprised at Just what to expect when Installing one of John Huber's Excellent Frictionless Trigger's, I have to Place a call to Gary their P&R Guy early Monday Morning. Gary told me that this Trigger was an easy Drop in style where I would only have to shave 0.02" at the very Most of the stock wood around my Trigger guard area to allow the use of their trigger. That may hold True for the Sweden made Husqvarna rifle's, but in my Case with this S&W Model-A Rifle of mine this was Not True. My Gun shipped into S&W in 1967. It came to S&W as a Barreled action. S&W designed and Built the Gorgeous wood stock for it and in the process evidently made their stock's Much Thicker in the trigger Guard area, than the Swedish Built Husqvarna's. Now, I Not Bragging , but I am a 43 Year Mechanic, so I saw this as No Huge deal, I used a air Powered die grinder with a rotary tip to modify the front trigger Guard area of my wood stock. The Problem was that the Huber Trigger Creep Allen head screw would not go down into my wood stock to allow it enough clearance for my action to mate back up as it should. I took about ten Minute's of my time to alter the wood some what and it fit perfectly when I was done, But I want to tell Other's reading this article I have Written that if you have a S&W Branded rifle there may have to be some slight Modifying of your stock. Just Like anything else stock's may vary so some may Not need any modification, where as other's like mine may need this, so if this Intimidates you, Buyer Beware. I can tell you, that aside from that this Trigger is Superb in any fashion or form and I am really Looking forward to getting my gun on the bench rest to se just how accurate it is now. You can set these trigger's as low as you Like, I chose for mine to break clean at 3/4 of a Pound with Zero Creep. I am Certain that This Huber concept's trigger will forever change my attitude of this rifle from here forward. I will post Picture's of my Target result's as soon as I have them to do so. Regards

Hello All
I got to the Range Yesterday to try out my new Huber Concept's Competition ball bearing Frictionless Trigger. I can tell you that John Huber has done his home work Well on these trigger's what a Huge difference it made in my Husqvarna rifle. I had Many shot's while firing it that went off before I expected them to Surprising me and that Spells accuracy.;) I have my New Trigger set @ 3/4 of a Pound weight with Zero Creep and it breaks Like Glass due to The Ball bearing Fristionless design John has come up with. I set my Target @ The Hundred Yard range for Load testing, Ihad with me two different hand load's using 150 Grain Bullet's both Ballistic tip type Bullet's. It was a Nice Cool 65 Degrees here in Knoxville, Tennessee Yesterday with almost No wind Present and was very Sunny. I was shooting my own hand load's using Accurate Arm's Powder in One hand Load and IMR Powder in the Other hand Load Both were dispensed at near Maxium Hunting loading level's so The Recoil of my Gun was Just Wicked. The Bullet's I loaded were Hornady Ballistic tipped 150 Grain weight. The Other hand Load was Nosler Ballistic Tipped 150 Grain weight as well. I had to sight my Gun in as it's classic Redfield wide View 3-9 variable scope was off some from the last time I used it and I Strongly Suspect that some of that may have been caused by Flinching due to such a High Trigger Pull weight being 7- Pound's that my gun used to have.

I did Get some Nice clover leaf group's Just Under the size of a dime while shooting it so it is Now Very accurate to Hunt Deer with this year, and John Huber's Trigger is the very reason for this new accuracy that it has. It will take some work to get this gun to produce One Ragged hole group's as the Wicked High recoil of it simply Stomped me into the ground shooting Hunting Load level ammunition, and my Right shoulder feel's Like Ground Chuck this AM from it. I can tell you that you are Striving for accuracy out of your Husqvarna rifle, that adding this Huber concept's Trigger is The Very best thing one can do for a Husqvarna rifle with the 1640 action as John Huber has filled a very Important Need in these guns. If you are Hindered by Your Husqvarna's High Trigger Pull do your self a Huge favor and get one of John's Ball bearing Frictionless Trigger's as they are Everything he say's that they are and More, and I can Guarantee that you will not be Disapointed in their performance, it is Just What These Old Husky's Needed to make them The Perfect hunting or Bench Rest Performance Guns. Hello All
I have been working Very hard at perfecting a Good stout Hunting Load for my S&W Husqvarna rifle. Since I Placed this new Huber Ball Baring frictionless Trigger it has Enhanced my Gun and filled a Huge Need in the gun as the factory Trigger was Pure garbage. In working up a heavy Hunting load I selected some Hornady SXT style Bullet's of 150 Grain weight. These Bullet's are of Boat tail design and have the Plastic ballist tip's on them. I tried Three different load's for my gun and settled on the one shown on target below. I must confess here Guy's, that due to the High Recoil of the Springfield 30-06 Caliber, I needed to space the day's in testing as it Quickly Turned my Right shoulder into Ground Chuck with Black & Blue Brusing. I no Longer enjoy the High recoil of this rifle but I also Understand to wring out the gun's Highest level of accuracy it will require Much bench shooting to get it where I wanted it on target. In this last session of Target Load testing, I set the scope target's @ The 100 Yard Line as well as the 200 Yard Line. I did make some Minor scope adjustment's while shooting it so that is why some of the shot's are Not in the Ten Ring area of the target, as I progressed with it, The Shot's's went where I intended them to be though, and I was Pleased with the Over all perfomance of the tested Load and Gun's Trigger it Really shines now. As I mentioned I am Very Pleased with the group's this hand Load Produced as the Gun is a Sporter type tapered barrel Type rifle so one can not expect it to shoot and react like a serious bench rest type gun. These group's are much better than I expected and are the Very best that it has ever produced I Now, have Huber Concept's to Thank for that. I did E-mail Gary this AM and shared with him that installing their Trigger in my S&W Husqvarna took a Little more work than I expected, as they Intended their trigger's for the Husqvarna Built wood stock's and there is a difference between them and the S&W made wood stocks on these Guns but other than That Minor Issue I was very Pleased with it and it's Supreme Velvet Smooth performance. Gary is Very self conscience type Guy, so I strongly suspect that he will look into my concern's and make the needed changes to make these trigger's a Breeze to Place in the S&W Husqvarna guns in the very near future. In closing here, I can tell you that I have Dealt with Hundred's of supplier's in my Life time, but I have never dealt with any Like Huber Concept's they are Trully Pasionate for shooter's and stive to perfect and please their Buying Public, they are Great guy's get you one of their Trigger's there is NO One else out there to offer anything this amazing and easy to Place in our Guns, of which They Really Lacked in coming from the factory. Regards, Hammerdown

Here is my test target shot @ The 100 Yard Line with my New Huber Concept's Trigger, which Really makes the Accuracy of this gun shone now

Here is a Three shot cluster group which is Under the Size of a dime shot @ the 100 Yard Line as well, This was NOT able to be done with this Rifle Until I Placed the Huber Trigger in it now it makes this Gun my favorite Gun

Here is my test target set @ The 200 yard Line shot with my Huber concept's Frictionless ball bearing Trigger

Hello All
I spent about an Hour cleaning and waxing my S&W rifle Yesterday. I used MAAS Gun metal Polish on it and you wouldve Not Believe the amont of Micro rust that I Pulled off the gun's Bluing that never showed to the Human Eye ! I then Placed a double coat of Rennisance Wax on it to protect the bluing finish as I Hunt with it and want to make certain that it is protected from Moisture and rain should it Pour down on me while Hunting with it. I will try to get some Fresh Pictures of it later on today and will Post them here for all to enjoy. Regards, Hammerdown

Hello
I have been working Intently with this rifle since I Placed it's new Huber concept's trigger in it. I have to Take breaks between set's of working with it due to the High recoil of the Springfield 30-06 Cartridge this gun can quickly Turn your shoulder into Ground Chuck when firing it in experimenting Target shooting sessions. I now am as light as I care to be with it's trigger being just a Half a pound of pull with Zero creep, These Trigger's are amazing and will turn your Husky into a Match grade rifle quickly. I will Post some newer test targets when I get back on the bench with this rifle. Regards, Hammerdown
