Mine's been updated 3 or 4 times. At one point they had Iberian Peninsula for me too. I've built my tree up on that site to more than 17,000 people. Ancestry/history is the closest competition to my obsession with guns/reloading.

My name is on everyone's list already and any of "them" that want to know about me already know more about me than I do about myself. Knowing who my ancestors were will not harm me. It might even help if they consider my ancestor, John MacBean, was forcibly deported to the USA and was made an indentured servant, a slave. Maybe I can get reparations... In case anyone is under the delusion that there is still privacy in this world they will be in for a rude awakening. I have been financially responsible and have 0 debt and more than likely will not have to borrow money ever again. We have much more to worry about than what information they can get from my ancestry account!

That's sad to me. There is nothing much more enriching to me than knowing where my ancestors came from, what they did, what they endured and overcame. The problems in our life pale in comparison to what those before us went through, and without knowing history one can't know what the consequences of political actions will bring about. Everything has been tried before and due to cause and effect we can expect the same things to result from the same actions.

Unless they use it against you. Have a family history of alcohol abuse or cancer - maybe you get denied treatment or healthcare (remember Gates et al want to eliminate 4 billion of us "useless eaters"

I claim nothing from my ancestors achievements nor am I responsible for their failures. I am responsible for who I am and what I’ve done. They are of passing interest only. Every generation has its own circumstances to deal with. History is my avocation. I am far more interested in the past movers and shakers and societies in general than I am the individuals of my own family. The further they are from my own time, the less impact they have on my life today. I could be a descendent of European royalty or of a mass murderer. It is of no consequence. If you enjoy that kind of research, knock your socks off. Enjoy.
