Another 29-2 question

I have a chance to buy a new in box, model 29-2, nickle plated, 6"bbl gun. It is in the wooden case, lining is perfectly new, all the accessories and paperwork are there as well. I think I can get it for around seven, is it worth it? It appears to be from 1986-7 time frame.

I have a couple of other hard to find and NIB guns, but I was actually looking for a shooter. The problem is my weakness for NIB stuff.

That's a good price. I would buy it.
Thanks for the quick reply. Hi to all by the way. I used to visit the old forum and had a s/n there.

What causes nickle to flake? Can you give the gun a little cleaning with oil or Hoppe's? It is fine just has a little dust and a few finger prints. I tend to favor blue guns, but darn if this one is not pretty. :p
You dont want to get any bore cleaner on the nickle.A nickle gun has been coated with copper first and bore cleaner eats copper. If there is a tiny spot any where it can get under the nickle it will eat the copper away and your nickle will flake.
I have a nickle 29-2 with a 6.5 barrel that I got a realy good deal on when I was looking for a blued gun.I put a little oil on the non nickle parts but use tree wax brand carnuba wax on mine.
The only thing I realy dislike about mine is if I am shooting in the bright sun light. The sun hits that nickel and and blurs up the sights.
LG- You have an incoming e-mail on a MDL 29. :)
If I found one in that condition (NIB) with all accessories and at that price I would buy it. You can clean and polish nickel with Mothers Mag, Flitz, or Semichrome and an old cotton T shirt.

Yes thats a good price. If it had the 6 1/2 barrel it would be a steal!
