The third S&W revolver I ever bought is a 4” model 64-3.I bought it from a guy in my area back in 2013. It has a 7D serial number, made in 1981, which was the year I graduated from High School.
A couple years agoI purchased a 10-7 in shop about 25 miles away. This one has an 8D serial number, which also dates to 1981. The guns serial numbers are about 140,000 apart. Both of these are the last of the pinned barrel guns. That was eliminated in 1982
