Hello all was just curious if anyone has tried installing a Smith 649/638 revolver hammer into a 637, (or the like) revolver?...if so anyone have pics of what it looks like? I'm considering trying it out mostly because I love tinkering with my guns and also for more practical purposes..all help is appreciated..Thanks!

Looking at the hump back 649 with the shrouded hammer it is hard to tell what hammer is used. Just as a guess I would believe it would be less expensive to buy what you want rather than create a frankingun. Shame to take a Drexel tool to a 637 and Bob the hammer

I can post a picture tonight when I get off work. I have a 60-7 with a 649 hammer.

its a bit of an odd looking hammer.. as seen in a de-humped humpback (model 49)

I installed one on my old model 36. I bought it with a broken hammer. All of the affordable replacement hammers on eBay were broken so I went this route.

Forgot yesterday. This one came with a bobbed hammer, gunsmith ordered one for the 60 and this arrived. Told him to go ahead and use it.
