I have over a dozen revolvers. Other than my model 442, this model 617-6 is the only one I have purchased brand new. Both the 4 and 6 inch versions were available and after a lot of thought, I purchased the 4 inch. In spite of the lock & MIM parts, I would highly recommend one

Do the empties extract nicely? Had and sold a K frame and a J frame rimfire S&W because of the very sticky extraction of fired cases. Turns out I could have used a finish reamer in them to smooth out the chambers but had already sold them both.

Very nice Smith and will probably be a regular at the old shale pit. Congrats.

They come out pretty easy at first, but after 60-70 rounds extraction gets a bit harder...not excessive though

I have that exactly 617-6 and it's without question my favorite firearm. It's fun and very accurate. It's also the perfect companion to my 686-6 for training. I plink steel targets out on my range in the yard here regularly with both.

Did those grips come on it? Very nice, I haven't seen those grips before.

Addiction? Not me, I have three 617's, a 617-0 6" 6 shot, a 617-2 6" 10 shot and a 617-6 4" 10 shot, I really like the 4".
